Eleven to the libraries
I’ve gone and thought about the Eleven Lists and tried to device my own. It was rather hard, but in the end I caved in and included works as opposed to single albums.
Battlepope by Robert Kirkman/Terry Moore It’s fun, hilarious and a hoot. It’s also insane and doesn’t lend itself to the lowest common denominator.
Channel Zero by Brian Wood It has a message that I think is very important and people need to wake up.
the Goon by Eric Powell Fun for the whole family. The kids can appreciate the violence (and don’t worry, monsters and zombies are okay to beat up) and the adults the humour.
the Invisibles by Grant Morrison/Various Because it really is the best and as far from beating the reader on the head with what’s happening.
Kabuki: Circle of blood by David Mack Great storytelling and compelling characters
Leave it to Chance by James Robinson Fun for both kids and adults but in a more friendly way than the Goon.
Marvels by Kurt Busiek/Alex Ross I don’t like Ross, his art just doesn’t feel alive even in the left pinkie. However, here it works, and it is one of the finest Previously In Marvel U-story I’ve seen.
Queen & country by Greg Ruka/various Spy-thriller done right.
Replacement God by Zander Cannon I actually think this is a better fantasy suit than Bone. Really.
Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis/Darick Robertson I’m a fan of Hunter S Thompson so Spider Jerusalem just comes natural. Journalism, drugs and politics all in a glossy cover.
V for Vendetta by Alan Moore Moore’s best work.
