carbonated ink : one man's struggle against boredom

Comic in September

[]    comics : 2. July 2004, 23:40

That is, the ones I don’t subscribe to already.

DC

Adam Strange #1
Challangers of the Unknown must die TBP
Tom Strong #28: I don’t read Tom Stron, never once, but Brain K Vaughan and Cameron Stewart? Count me in.
Doom Patrol Vol 1 and 2: No way I’m missing these.
The Originals HC: very tempting despite the higher price tag.

(Random thought: I’m not certain that the style of the Johnny DC-line works in print. Especially not that clean and in colour. I would really like the SMAXX collection, but I’ll wait for the trade.)

Marvel

Nightcrawler #1: Darick Robertson on art.

ONI

Chocolate Thunder: Blaxplotation in comcis and it’s from Oni. And the name and cover. Gosh.

Courtney Crumrin in the Twilight Kingdom: I don’t see how I can pass this one by.

MISC

Jax Epoch and the Quicken Forbidden vol 2 (AiT)
Doll and Creature (AiT): Hell, I’ll probably look at anything from AiT/PlanetLar.

Escalator (Alternative Comcis): it seems like fun.

Apparat Sample (Avatar Press): There’s essays and it’s cheap.
(Avatar Press thought: Can Brian Pulido draw bigger nipples? I mean, they’re huge. And cold. Damn cold. I bet you can poke out an eye as well as punch hole in a paper sheet with those things.)

Digital Webbing Presents #18 (Digital Webbing): All the blog-crap has worn me down. I’ll try one comic-anthology.

Sleepwalk and other stories (Drawn & Quaterly): Optic Nerve looked interesting when I looked at it in the comic shop.

(I think collector editions of comics are really silly and stupid so I won’t pick up the Kabuki Alchemy Preview. Damn them.)

Texarkana: One Night Only #1 (Mad Yak Press): Don’t know a thing except that I like the cover.

Inferno (Titan): Supernatural Mike Carey story with art from Michael Gaydos. It should be pretty good.

Dead @ 17: Blood of Saints TBP (Viper Comics): I like what I’ve seen so far, so…
