carbonated ink : one man's struggle against boredom

Channel Zero

[]    comics : 14. June 2004, 22:41

I read it two weeks ago for the first time. I said “This is pretty good” and then I put it down and didn’t think about it much. It sat there, patiently, dormant, waiting. I picked it up yesterday again and I was hooked. The whole monkeywrench meet machine is appealing, especially now when the television really has gotten dumb. It might have been the idiot-box back in the fifties, but that’s smart compared to the fauna found in the schedules today. Channel Zero is probably the best first read thing I’ve read for two weeks now. The worst part is that it gives me all these ideas — and those who know me knows that this isn’t always a good thing.

Brian Wood is a pretty talanted guy”, I say and try to hunt down some copies of Demo.

  1. Yep, I was pleasantly suprised when I picked this up for the first time. After that I had to pick up everything he did. Becky Cloonan is talented as all get out as well.

  2. I think my initial reaction was because I had seen the preview art for Jennie One (which should arrive by mail later this week) before CZ. I was expecting the art to be different.
