big, bigger, biggest fish

I saw Timmy Burton’s Big Fish earlier today. As the esteemed Mr Boo put it: it is the best feel good movie of the year. Of course, I’ve yet to see Zatoichi so this may change although I sort of doubt it.
Anyway, Big Fish. I liked it. A story about a guy who tells tall tales done right. It’s a tricky business, but Burton has nothing of the man who did the Planet of the Apes remake left in him and is back on form. Less dark perhaps, but still as moody as ever. The haunted road sequence could easily have fitted in Sleepy Hollow.
And what is this with movies having narrators again? Lots of good ones have it, but according to the rules—sorry, the priniciples it doesn’t belong in a movie. But somehow this movie relies on this, just as much as Adaptation or Fight Club.
