carbonated ink : one man's struggle against boredom

Fun at the movies?

[]    moving pictures : 29. June 2005, 12:10

While it’s know that the Narnia books are Christian allegories, I don’t really think C.S. Lewis would have approved with the studio wanting to sell the movie as a ‘The Passion for kids’. A three hour-long torture and bore-fest? Yeah, that’s exactly what the kids these days want to see.

War of the Worlds is rated PG-13. Much of the earth’s population is wiped out, leaving very little time for sex or bad language.”
(—From the NY Times review, but I cought this on Buffistas. )

To hell with this I say! If that many people died, then the survivors must shag as bunnies in order to build up a decent-sized army of resistance. And If that many died around me, I’d probably swear quite a bit too—especially when being chased by big dumb aliens in huge tripods. What was the scriptwriter thinking? To echo the immortal words of John Cleese: “Reee-whrite!”

  1. Narnia: it gets worse! It seems that Disney wants to take advantage of the fact that Christians can coordinate campaigns, to get cheap advertising. If you hear the word “narniac”, scream and run.

  2. “Narnia Generals”? “City leaders”? This is so wrong and …ewww.

This is not the way to do an advertising campaign if you want people to like you and the thing you want to sell. The entire thing is is horrible and very doubious to say the least.
