Walkerwatch #1
(Sorry David, but you were almost right.) Anyway, here it begins. WalkerWatch -05! Today’s episode of Walker Texas Ranger is #42 Mean Streets.
It started with a soup kitchen for the homeless and a person called Doc—in no relation to Emmet Doc Brown I suppose—was brutally beaten by some yuppies high on blow. Which is obvious, because all rich kids do blow and film themselves beat people up. I’ve seen American Psycho. Of course Chucky come to the rescue, scares the rich away and later in the hospital Chucky watch Doc die while the doctors can’t do a thing. It’s sad, but like his namesake Chucky’s face doesn’t reveal how he really feels about this.
The yuppie posse couldn’t even walk into their own home properly, they together with some of the hospital staff walks like they had a Lincoln log in their pants. I suspect infiltration by aliens. I’ve heard about Dreamcatcher.
The people who seems most alive is the homeless, no doubt this is intended as a social critique against those who just go through the motions and never face any problem. All this to the droning soundtrack built from the theme song—it’s a sort of hypnosis, to make the viewer more suggestive to the contents.
The chase sequence towards the end where-in Chucky easily catches up with the most evil yuppie despite the fact that they’re in a city and the bad guy had at least a minute of advantage, is of course a metaphor for that the past always catches up.
From today’s heartbreaking episode I learnt that all the homeless in Texas wears hats. If they don’t, they get beaten up in alleys.
