Interesting cliffhanger. When Batman (the real one staring Adam West) is forced to marry marcha the Queen of Diamonds they have a cliffhanger just after he gets the question. The episode after the narrator makes this sound like the most horrible diabolical moment in Batmans life. I guess the shows producer was against the marriage institution—perhaps they just started to believe a bit too much in the spirit of the raoring sixties.

And in the same episode, they had this dialogue that is just ‘mazing in its cheesyness.

– Where are my guards?
– They where held up in traffic, your highness.

The cliffhanger aspect of it is really an inspired addition. And in season three, there’s even an arc over all the episodes at the same time as they’re mostly self-contained. Now that I think about it, i reminds me a whole lot of the structore of Alias season one.

There are areas of the old show that’s just a bit too disturbing today. Such as the mere possibility that it may have been the inspiration to Joel Schumachers nipple-fest in Batman & Robin.
