it shouldn't be this bad
Episode 7×10 Point of View of M*A*S*H must be the lowest in the entire series. When the show is good, it’s fenomenal, when it’s bad, it good. But this was bad even if it had been an episode of Baywatch. It was horrible.
The idea is that they wanted to show the series through the eyes of a wounded soldier, so everything is seen in first person. This can’t work. Especially not when the “main character” acts like a camera on a dolly track rolling by in the middle of a warzone without any kind of weapon or, for that matter, limbs. Sometimes they give him hands to write with but even that looks phoney. As if this wasn’t enough everyone—everyone—jumps up to this new patient and introduces themselves. Really introduce themselves. “Hi! I’m Corpral O’Reilly but everyone calls me Radar even though…” Blah, blah, blah, as they go one with a pragraph or two before they begin to spill out how they are and what’s bugging them. To a stranger. Fucking insanity.
It’s crap. M*A*S*H shouldn’t be crap. It’s insane. Who ever gave this script a go should be beaten with a stick made out of metal.
