How to say it
I have finished reading Danielle Henderson’s Tales from Fish Camp—but as much as I liked it, I don’t fell like writing about ir right now. It is however really really good.
I don’t really want to talk about the removal of comments war— sadly not a Farscape episode—but I think I must. I’m pro-total freedom of speech, really pro. Even the wretched lowlives of humanity that I hate with every square inch of bone in my body should have the right to speak up. This have gotten me in some trouble before, since people tend to assume I like and agrees with assholes just because I defend their right to voice their opinons.
This of course means that I can’t deleate anything except spam and that works fine for me. Sure, I believe that far from everyone enjoys the comments here as they sometimes drift into depravity—my friends and I however have lots of fun. If someone says something I don’t like, fine, I can live with that. Flame wars? Bring them on. I don’t have to be invloved just because it happens on my site. Nasty words? So, I can do worse than that. Threats? Isn’t that special, but I snicker because I can’t take them seriously.
The positive sides of allowing everything to be said/written far outweights the negative sides. Selectve allowance is sad and rather unpleasant, “what makes their point of view more valid than mine? “If you don’t want to allow topic drift and sometimes harsh words, the solution is simple: don’t allow comments. And if you still want to get input from your friends, use email. My point of view. You don’t have to live like that if you don’t want to.
