It's a bird, no a plane, yeha, a plane...

Saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow yesterday. Frankly, it was highly entertaining. The distraction that the whole sets were done with CGI was over after about a second or two since the colour-toning of the movie actually made it work with the actors. Odd as ILM was involved and they’ve done worse and worse effects each year since Jurassic Park.
The acting was spot on, caturing the essance of old pulp stories from the fifties. And all the homages to other films, I think I spoetted most of them. Some scenes look as if they were taken straight out of an old Superman cartoon. While much of it was completely obvious it did actually surprise me a few times.
Quite a surprise. An (almost) perfect sunday afternoon type of movie.

I probably would have enjoyed it a bit more if it hadn’t been for Alan Moores Tom Strong and the countless Commander Cody-episodes I’ve been watching lately.

(Almost bought the latest issue of Tom Strong, but since Cameron Stewart was replaced I didn’t bother.)

It’s pretty much pure cinematic torture.
