carbonated ink : one man's struggle against boredom

Things through the mail

[]    comics : 24. September 2004, 19:54

Despite my mother’s hard struggle not to raise me and my brother and give us morals and values, some things about behaviour has stuck. This is such a thing. Brian Maruca sent me Street Angel #2 and Slave Labor Stories (FCBD). I got them today, and thank you.

The Slave Labor Stories (FCBD) was odd though. Previously I had been a bit interested in Bear and now, not so much. The dialoge was the worst case of the Clearmont Caption Sickness I’ve seen. So much words and so little action, when they spoke the words almost ate up the entire panel. I couldn’t finish it. The rest of the comic had a few good thing though. I liked Pirate Club (Argh!), Street Angel (although it’s a short filler), and Halo and Sprocket. The rest I can live without, but the issue did actually do what it was suppose to do, and that is to showcase what Slave Labor does.

Street Angel #2 is possbily the best of them so far. The fact that a time-traveling captain Cortez knows a ninja when he sees one is hilarious. Throw in an Inca god, pirates, and a dimwited astronaut in the usual mix and you might understand what I’m hinting at (to put it simply: this is great, yo!).
